MATH TASKS
Students should routinely engage in Math Tasks that require them to struggle productively. There are certain characteristics of a good Math Task.
MULTI-STANDARD TASKS:
Multi-Standard Math Tasks are Math Tasks that cover multiple standards. These are my favorite type of tasks to create or use with my students. Math is connected, so I love to demonstrate how one overall situation can have multiple questions that align with multiple standards.
FOUR PART TASKS:
Four-Part tasks are high-quality problem solving tasks that have four related questions. Typically, all of my four-part tasks have this format:

-
Part A has one correct answer and requires a pictorial representation.
-
Part B has one correct answer and requires using the answer from Part A.
-
Part C has multiple correct answers, but references Part A & B.
-
Part D requires justification of the overall concept of the task using words and a drawing.
